What energy efficiency grants are available for Landlords?

The Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES), implemented in April 2018, mandate that all rented properties must achieve a minimum energy efficiency rating of band ‘E’, unless they are exempt.

However, from 2025, all new tenancies will need to meet a higher minimum rating of band ‘C’, and properties with existing tenants must be upgraded to this standard by 2028. Non-compliance could result in penalties of up to £30,000.

Additionally, the ECO4 scheme requires that all properties currently rated band ‘E’ must be improved to at least band ‘C’ following the installation of energy efficiency measures. These changes support the Government’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and will also extend to properties being sold from 2035 onwards.

Green Energy Sense are committed to helping you reduce your energy bills. Working directly with the UK’s leading energy companies; we can offer free insulation, heating grants, heat pumps and solar panels via the ECO4 and ECO4 Flex schemes.
